Cheerobics 2010 to combine with SSC's Championship PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 18 March 2010 02:18

Singapore Sports Council has decided to withdraw its support of Cheerobics 2010 as competing teams were confused as to which championship to participate in, with SSC's event and CAS' event coinciding on the same day. To prevent further confusion and in the best interest of the competing teams, Cheerobics 2010 will be merging together with Singapore Sports Council's 1st National Cheerleading and Cheering Championships to provide the best possible competition experience.

The event will happen on the same day of Cheerobics, on 20th March at Changi Expo Hall 2. The event is expected to start around 1:30pm.

CAS would like to thank all teams, supporters and sponsors for the support. We wish all teams good luck. See you at Cheerobics 2011!

There are new updates to the routine requirements for Spirit Team Divisions.

The changes are as follows:

For the music component, NO skills are permitted. Only dance is allowed to be showcased during the music component. However, skills may be used during the cheer segment. Teams are required to perform skills that are allowed within their division. The rationale behind the change is to simplify the requirements of the routine, allowing new teams to choreograph a routine (as skills require time to build). The routine requirements are as follow:

Spirit teams are required to perform a cheer and a dance.

For the cheer component, teams are encouraged to use their school/organization/team cheer. Props (poms, signs, flags, megaphones and/or banners) are permitted during this segment. Emphasize on crowd involvement and showcase your best crowd-leading material. Skills are allowed in this segment. Please refer your division safety rules.

  1. The cheer portion must be performed without music.
  2. No voice-overs or words may be recorded to make the teams’ vocal projection sound louder.
  3. The cheer portion is based on the ability to lead the crowd, use of signs, poms, and practical use of stunt/ pyramids to lead the crowd.
  4. Please see General Safety Rules - Props for the list of props allowed.

The dance component is intended to serve the purpose of a pre-game, half-time or time-out performance. Props, except poms, are not allowed to be used during this segment. For this segment, teams are NOT allowed to incorporate tumbling or stunts. The emphasis of this segment is on crowd entertainment.

The scoresheet have also been altered to accommodate the changes. Instead of having 20 points allocated to creativity under the music component, 10 points are taken out to include motions (for the dance). The new scoresheet is as follows:
