Message from ICU
Dear World Organizations:
Once again, we're very excited about the upcoming 2010 China Cheerleading Open to be held 11 December 2010 in Beijing, People's Republic of China. This event will tie in a 1 day competition event for Chinese television, and also sightseeing tours including the Great Wall of China and the Forbidden City (and more) for teams traveling to the event.
We are working closely with the China Sports Authorities on this very important event, and more details will follow shortly. However, for planning purposes, in the meantime we have enclosed the "tentative" basic schedule of events to assist teams preparing for this seminal weekend of cheerleading in China.
More details to follow, and subject to change; but enclosed is the basic plan of events:
Thursday 9 December 2010 Teams arrive in Beijing, check into hotel. Friday 10 December 2010 Team Open Practice, city tour of Beijing/shopping Saturday 11 December 2010 2010 China Cheerleading Open Championship Sunday 12 December 2010 Teams tour the Forbidden City, Summer Palace Monday 13 December 2010 Teams leave Beijing to tour The Great Wall of China, return to hotel. Tuesday 14 December 2010 Teams depart Beijing

Dear World Organizations:
Enclosed please find yesterday's Press Release regarding ICU's formal presentation to the SportAccord General Assembly on 30 April 2010 in Dubai.
As mentioned in the Press Release, the ICU presented a detailed power point and video presentation to over 100 IF Presidents & Sport Executives who were in attendance. As also noted, the presentation delivered great value as a wonderful opportunity to introduce Cheer to the world of International Sports Federations.
From the presentation, the ICU continues to receive overwhelming feedback on the strength of the ICU organization, our membership, as well as our World Championships. Additionally, our presentation has promoted greater dialogue with IF Presidents on the positive attributes of Cheer as it applies to the world's sports community.

With greater awareness of Cheer, the ICU also received requests for greater clarification of our Sport. In respect of these requests as well as further SportAccord suggested adjustments of our bylaws, the ICU made the decision to present Cheer/ICU to the 2010 SportAccord General Assembly but to withhold a vote until 2011 in London.
Please email with any questions. Thank you again, and best wishes to everyone!
Kindest Regards, Karl Olson International Cheer Union http://cheerunion.org/Home.aspx |
